When the Germans invade Hungary in the spring of 1944, the persecution and murder of Hungarian Jews begins. Eleven-year-old Eva Szepesi is sent to Slovakia by her mother. From then on, the Jewish girl lives on the run. She finds hiding places with kind-hearted people, but eventually, she is captured and taken to Auschwitz. After the war, Eva Szepesi remains silent for fifty years. It is not until the mid-nineties that she can speak about her experiences.
