In November 1838, a famous love couple travels to Mallorca: George Sand and the tuberculosis-stricken Frédéric Chopin, who hopes to improve his health in the southern climate. Additionally, the eccentric writer and the composer want to enjoy their young love away from the gossip and chatter of Parisian society. However, this journey is full of challenges: only after a long search do they find accommodation in the abandoned monastery of Valldemosa. The local population behaves hostile and intolerant, and a lack of comfort along with disastrous weather characterize their time on the Balearic island, which George Sand enjoys nonetheless and describes in her book in a way that is both impressive and amusing.
