Product details

The planned introduction of SwissDRGs in Switzerland in 2009 as a performance-oriented, tariff-effective, flat-rate payment system for acute hospital services intensifies the existing cost pressure in the hospital sector and requires the further development of existing structures and processes. Experiences from other countries around the world show that the introduction of Diagnosis Related Groups (DRGs) leads to positive, neutral, and undesirable effects and changes. Thus, the SwissDRGs bring entirely new requirements for hospital management. This study aims to clarify the impact of the introduction of SwissDRGs in Switzerland on controlling and what measures should be taken in hospitals to meet the demands of the new flat-rate payment system. The effects will be analyzed based on these experiences.
