The present introduction serves a dual purpose: On one hand, it presents most literary works of the Old and Middle Kingdom in terms of content and text excerpts; on the other hand, it paves a way through the most important secondary literature related to these works. This aims to facilitate engagement with the literature not only for students of Egyptology, especially given the decreasing study duration, but also provides a quicker orientation for those in neighboring disciplines and anyone interested in ancient Egyptian literature.
