This introduction describes the essential theoretical and methodological foundations for the practice of systemic constellations. Diana Drexler presents the pillars of systemic constellations after a brief historical overview of the development of the approach: system theory and phenomenological attitude, multi-generational perspective, and resource orientation. Frequently observed system dynamics are illustrated through short case examples, and characteristics of the methods used in working with constellations are explained using the example of a group seminar. Under the term "knot in the handkerchief," the author explains procedures and principles that have proven effective in conducting systemic constellations.
