The fourth and final volume of this commentary places great emphasis on the history of reception. The Passion and Easter narratives have significantly shaped piety through art, music, and Passion plays. Therefore, this volume also includes images; it aims to bridge the gap to art history and musicology. Of course, pressing historical questions, such as the trial of Jesus, the shared guilt of the Jews in Jesus' death, and the question of Judas, are also discussed in detail.
