Elvira has a habit of feeling sorry for many things. She feels sorry for Grandma, who no longer has a proper Grandpa. She feels sorry for the sky when it’s filled with dark clouds and can’t be seen anymore. And when Dad is lying in the bathtub singing, Elvira feels sorry that he didn’t get a nicer voice. Because his bellowing is really hard to bear! Sometimes Elvira even feels sorry for herself; then she would love to spread her arms, row up and down a bit, and fly high - just like a bird. Elvira really likes birds. While playing in the yard one day, she discovers a tiny black bird. The little creature is injured and can no longer fly. Without hesitation, Elvira takes it to her room. But how can she help it? What makes a bird happy? Elvira tries everything to nurse her new feathered friend back to health.
