Since the 18th century, literature has reflected individual and collective models of education and upbringing through discourses of the body. With the shift from providence to contingency, the question of education, in light of the possibilities for shaping an open future, moved to the center of aesthetic considerations. Based on this observation, the volume examines the interactions between educational and body discourses as well as literature up to the present day. The contributors illuminate the relationship between education and the body from various perspectives, particularly exploring the questions of authenticity and artificiality of the respective embodiment models.
