The mine was established in 1965 through the merger of the formerly independent mines Emil-Emscher and Fritz-Heinrich of Hoesch AG. The extraction facilities Fritz 1/2/Hansen and Emil 1/2, as well as the shaft and ventilation facilities Emscher 1/2, Heinrich 1/2, Anna 1, Carl 1, and the inactive shafts Wilhelmine Victoria 1/4 and 2/3 were included. Additionally, the central coking plant Emil was taken over.
