In the Main River north of Bamberg, a fisherman is found dead, tied to a concrete pillar in the water. Shortly after, another gruesome discovery is made. Meanwhile, strange things are happening at the Banz Monastery with the CSU. Chief Detective Haderlein and his young colleague encounter opaque, confusing facts about politics and the church, and ultimately, they come across more and more bodies. A race against the murderer and against time begins across northern Bavaria. The search for the truth ultimately confronts the two investigators with a nightmarish realization.
