Ende and Böckmann
German, Franziska Pagel, 2018Product details
Hermann Ende (1829-1907) and Wilhelm Böckmann (1832-1902) significantly shaped the urban landscape of Berlin in the 19th century as private architects over more than 35 years. In the early years, they primarily designed villas and apartment buildings, and in the 1870s, they evolved into one of the leading architectural firms in Berlin with impressive bank, hotel, and commercial building projects, whose influence extended as far as Japan. Nevertheless, their work has been forgotten. This book provides an overview of their lives and work for the first time, contributing significantly to architectural history by cataloging all known buildings and designs.
