The problems of our time can be thoroughly examined, historically derived, and presented in detail; however, they can also be compressed and expressed in concise poetic form, at least afterwards. The author Wendelin Teichmann has done both: first in his book Totaliter Aliter (Completely Different) over 540 pages, and then in the present volume Finally Out of the Dead End in sixty critical sonnets, a thought-lyrical form consisting of two quatrains and two tercets. In both books, the line of thought is the same: the imperialism of opinion from the Old Church and, conversely, the self-aggrandizement of (mostly materialistic) modern natural sciences beyond their disciplinary boundaries have caused the crisis of meaning in modernity and post-modernity. The task is to reunite faith and knowledge in thought and feeling to provide the individual with the spiral.
