Fact report from a dementia shared living arrangement: Insights and experiences of a care assistant. The nursing crisis from a different perspective. Instead of relying on unemployment benefits, the author of this book chose a path into caregiving. Without preparation, she entered a world where human dignity was of little value, where caregivers were worn out and those in need of care were sedated. She witnessed violence, neglect, bullying, and indifference. For two years, the author, a single mother of two children, worked in a dementia shared living arrangement. She became an enabler in a rigid system: involuntarily, desperately, and helplessly. The author is not a care expert, nor a qualified professional, but merely a care assistant who was poorly trained and ruthlessly exploited. She does not accuse; she simply reports what happened to her. This is another plea for a different kind of caregiving in Germany.
