Chadje Schams ad-Din Mohammad Hafes-e Schirazi. There is no one who engages with world literature and does not know the famous Iranian poet Hafes. Hafes is known for his ghazals, but he has also written fascinatingly in Saaghinameh and quatrains. Saaghinameh is a masnavi in which the poet has wine poured for him by a saaghi [wine server] to demonstrate the worthlessness of this world while intoxicated. Hafes condemns hypocrisy and, like his predecessor Saadi, seeks to place love and the act of loving at the forefront of existence.
