Product details

Equality policy, as shown by the media, is divisive; yet it unites men and women, locals and foreigners, heterosexuals and homosexuals in their desire to be treated equally in the workplace and not to be discriminated against or favored based on social categories. In an ethnographic study, Katja Hericks examines the extent to which equality norms and organizational equality policies are entangled in dilemmas at various levels, how these dilemmas and fractures are addressed, and how an equality policy that has changed in content and structure over the decades is established within an organization and becomes an integral part of a financial services corporation. The study draws on sociological neo-institutionalism to demonstrate how decouplings make contradictory expectations possible, which does not require consistency.
