The confrontation of humanity with the overpowering nature of reality is a recurring theme in the work of the philosopher Hans Blumenberg, appearing in various facets and variations. This overwhelming nature of the real is uniquely condensed in Blumenberg's conception of the absolutism of reality. The aim of this study is, on one hand, to provide a comprehensive understanding of the absolutism of reality, and on the other hand, to present a possible new perspective on Blumenberg's conception. In this context, an attempt is made to apply Blumenberg's theory of the absolute metaphor to his own philosophical-anthropological considerations. Thus, another central concern of this work is to answer the question of whether the absolutism of reality can be understood as an absolute metaphor.
