Erich Preiser (1900 - 1967), like Ludwig Erhard a student of Franz Oppenheimer and Wilhelm Rieger, is undoubtedly one of the most important German representatives of economic and social sciences. As a member of the Scientific Advisory Board at the Federal Ministry of Economics, Preiser also left a significant mark in scientific policy consulting. His economic policy position can be characterized as distinctly socio-liberal, with a clear emphasis on "social," which made him a vehement advocate for fair income distribution and broader wealth distribution - in the spirit of Alfred Müller-Armack's second phase of the social market economy.
