Vivien Sommer reconstructs the typical practices of remembrance on the World Wide Web in their fullness and diversity, based on the online discourse surrounding the trial and process against the concentration camp guard John Demjanjuk. Building on this, it is empirically explained to what extent mediated memories are constituted within the framework of online communication, what changes accompany this, and what constants can be identified in comparison with other memory media. Theoretically, concepts from Memory Studies, practice research, discourse theory, and research on mediatisation are interconnected. Methodologically, the procedure of Grounded Theory is triangulated with knowledge sociological and social semiotic discourse analysis.
