Sabine is born in 1924 as an illegitimate child of a farm maid near Inzell. Just three weeks after her birth, her mother leaves her at the home of the child's father. There, she is raised by her grandmother along with her father's siblings. During her laborious childhood and youth, overshadowed by World War II, Sabine experiences only a few joyful moments. This meager life does not change much when the dairymaid finds the man of her life. The days of the mountain farmers are marked by hard work. Their ten children are the only bright spot in their lives. With them, they experience much excitement and pain, but also beautiful moments. Roswitha Gruber authentically and movingly recounts the life of the mountain farmer Sabine, who, on the day of her golden wedding anniversary, can look proudly at her 33 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
