Product details
Jean-Henri Fabre, born in 1823 in Saint-Léons du Lévézou, was an entomologist and author. Initially a teacher in Ajaccio, he later became a professor of physics in Avignon before dedicating himself solely to the observation of insects from 1870 onwards and working on his major work, the Souvenirs Entomologiques, the first volume of which was published in 1879. Fabre, whose work has been translated into many languages, is considered one of the key pioneers of behavioral research. He died in 1915 in Sérignan-du-Comtat, Vaucluse. Friedrich Koch, born in 1933, a country pastor in Dinkelsbühl and entomologist, has been translating Jean-Henri Fabre since 2002. Thomas Schestag, born in 1956 in Freiburg, is an author and translator. He is currently a professor in the German Department at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Christian Thanhäuser, born in 1956 in Linz, is a publisher, illustrator, and woodcut artist. In 1989, he founded his own hand press workshop and the bibliophile publishing house Edition Thanhäuser, which has been publishing bilingual editions of the RanitzDrucke series since 1995. Heide Lipecky, born in 1943 in Schwerin, was an editor at 'Sinn und Form' from 1967 to 2008 and translated, among others, Eric Voegelin from English.
