Ascona-Monte Verità: A gathering place for the Bohemian lifestyle, dance, art, anarchy, literature, alternative living, and utopia. Erich Mühsam, Marianne von Werefkin, Franziska von Reventlow, Friedrich Glauser, and Baron Eduard von der Heydt are just a few among literally hundreds of personalities from Ascona. Among them was also Ernst Frick from Zurich. In his early days an anarchist closely associated with Otto Gross, he spent a year in prison in Regensdorf. After that, he began a new life in Ascona, or rather several lives: as an artist in the circle of Marianne von Werefkin and Walter Helbig, as an amateur archaeologist and discoverer of the Celtic fortification on Balla Drume (Ascona), and as an almost obsessive language researcher. Frick did not seek the limelight, left behind little written work, and has hardly been documented until now. A fascinating figure awaits discovery.
