What will my life look like in old age? We often tend to think of our biographical development from today onward in a linear fashion into the future. However, this notion overlooks certain moments of freedom that will emerge as we age. How do we become aware of the ever-growing possibilities, as well as the uncertainties of old age? This book presents three possible future scenarios for old age for twelve very different life stories. Within this range of possibilities, it becomes clear that old age can be an exciting and rewarding phase of life that is just as intense as earlier phases. On the contrary: the realization of certain freedoms encourages us to approach the future with enthusiasm and openness, despite the expected limitations.
