Product details
This narratological study joins the ongoing research discussion on memory literature. It analyzes the poetological moment of the narrated doubt about memory using the example of seven novels from the 1950s to the 1970s. In doing so, it brings together for the first time different genres of German-language fictions of memory—fictional memory novels, fictional meta-biographies, and fictional meta-autobiographies—in a systematic comparison. The triad of remembering, narration, and identity is at the center of the research work, which is oriented towards cultural studies and deals in depth with narrative texts by Max Frisch, Martin Walser, Alfred Andersch, Christa Wolf, and Peter Härtling.
