Product details
The American philosopher and writer Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882) was initially a Unitarian minister, but later distanced himself from traditional theology and founded the influential transcendentalist movement in 19th-century America. Emerson was a close friend of Henry David Thoreau, the author of "Walden," and, like him, advocated for a simple life in harmony with nature in his writings. The first part of this volume consists of essays on lifestyle and social coexistence. The second part features portraits of significant figures such as Goethe, Montaigne, Shakespeare, and Napoleon under the title "Representatives of Humanity.".
