The anthology presents reports from educational gender research that, on one hand, formulate fundamental perspectives on ethnographic methodology and, on the other hand, present concrete research findings from ethnographic projects in the context of childhood and youth. Among other things, it addresses a theoretical understanding of differences and practices of distinction, as well as the consideration of the normative entanglement of researchers in observation situations. Methodological challenges that are typical for studies designed to be sensitive to difference and inequality are taken up, aiming to contribute to the further development of an ethnography of educational gender research.
