The 100th birthday of Paul Parin provides a welcome opportunity to document the development of psychoanalytic ethnology and ethnopsychoanalysis in the German-speaking world after the turn of the millennium. The subject-oriented nature of ethnopsychoanalytic research has increasingly shifted from the ethnically, culturally, and socially other to the researcher themselves, thereby expanding the possibilities for better understanding the hidden pathways of the unconscious even in transcultural and postcolonial contexts.
