The edible city of Andernach has won multiple awards and is a pioneering project in the urban gardening movement and sustainable urban development. The motto is "Snacking allowed" instead of "No entry": vegetables are grown in public spaces, a permaculture garden serves as a meeting place, and fallow land is transformed into bee pastures.
