Andre Müller and Peter Hacks shared a lifelong friendship. Since the late 1950s, there was an uninterrupted exchange of letters and personal interactions. In 1963, Müller began documenting his meetings and phone calls with the poet. He maintained this habit until Peter Hacks' death, creating a unique portrait of this poet and the era in which he lived and wrote.
