The subtitle of this book names three terms that are in a relationship filled with tension. Some would argue that they have little to do with each other, while others would emphatically affirm the opposite and lament that this topic is not considered in closer connection, especially in the German-speaking area. This introduction aims to bridge seemingly irreconcilable positions and address quite subtle issues in a relatively easy-to-read, somewhat essayistic form. Starting from different models of human beings, it emphasizes the connection between concepts of humanity, social science theories, and practical cooperative economic activities in the broadest sense. It also notes, however, that such a solidarity-driven initiative can only show significant results if certain conditions are met.
