Austria and Germany are closely intertwined. In 2004, there were 56,320 Austrians employed under social security in Germany and 46,726 Germans in Austria. Labor law is often undervalued in management and by those affected, with the differences between the countries overlooked. This book addresses the labor law differences between Germany and Austria and highlights their significance in dealing with personnel. The presentation is also intended to serve as a guide for employees and employers from both countries to navigate the legal complexities of their neighboring country. To this end, German and Austrian labor law is thematically captured and explained in depth. It discusses the differences and similarities in the formation of contracts and the resulting obligations.
