Product details
In June 1893, Nansen sailed to the Arctic. His ship was deliberately frozen into the pack ice near the New Siberian Islands and allowed to drift northward. However, when it became clear that the Fram would not reach the North Pole, Nansen set out on foot towards the north with sleds, dogs, and kayaks. They were aware that they had little chance of finding the ship in the icy expanse of the Arctic. This gripping account of the dramatic events surrounding the Norwegian polar expedition comes from the abridged reissue of 1952. The original edition, which spans over 1,200 pages, is also available in two volumes.
