Product details
Franz Liszt's (1811-1886) relationship with Countess Marie d'Agoult (1805-1876) is one of the most famous affairs of the 19th century and is among the most significant aspects of the life of the prominent piano virtuoso and composer. The romance with Countess d'Agoult, who achieved literary success under the pseudonym Daniel Stern, began in 1833 and lasted eleven years. During this time, the two exchanged numerous letters that provide a wonderful insight into a great love story, which are also particularly relevant from a cultural-historical perspective. "Due to the variety and richness of the subjects they touch upon, they form an important contribution to the general history of this captivating era, to which the two correspondents belong as its most brilliant representatives," states the editor Daniel Ollivier. This is a reprint of the original edition from 1933.
