Product details
Ludwig Tieck (1773-1853), who originated from Berlin, is part of the German Romantic movement and is primarily known today for his translations of Shakespeare. He was friends with the Schlegel brothers, Fichte, Schelling, and Clemens Brentano, and was part of the circle of the so-called Jena Romanticism. Tieck wrote numerous romantic stories and fairy tales, with "Der getreue Eckart" and "Der blonde Eckbert" being among the most well-known today. In 1821, he published "Die Gemälde," the first in a series of successful novellas, in which the framing narrative primarily serves to present opinions and views, in this case regarding art history.
