Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach (1830-1916) came from Bohemian-Moravian nobility and is regarded as one of the most significant German-speaking authors of the 19th century, particularly for her narratives and novels that focus on the psychology of characters. Initially not very successful as a playwright, she achieved breakthrough success with prose texts starting in the late 1870s. This volume includes some of her best stories, including the novella "Krambambuli," which remains her most famous work to this day.
