Karl Erdmann Edler (1844-1931) was a writer as well as an educator in noble households and a professor of poetics, mythology, and the history of dramatic art at the Vienna Conservatory. His works were inspired by the Munich circle of poets and often have a historical background. His stories are generally considered to be rich in color and atmosphere. This is a reprint of the original edition from 1876.
