Julia Simoleit examines whether European goals and programs influence not only the external representation but also the daily practices and processes within universities. She focuses on the level of individual university members and investigates how they understand, utilize, and promote European higher education policy. At three universities in Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, the author identifies individual motivations, strategies, and networks. The Europeanization of the university thus appears as a process of institutional change that receives significant impulses at the micro level of organizational members.
