Driver assistance systems (DAS) have great potential to enhance both safety and comfort while driving. However, innovative DAS are only slowly gaining traction in the market. Stephanie Arndt examines the conditions for the acceptance of DAS and integrates these into a model. This model allows for the analysis and prediction of DAS acceptance among end customers. In empirical studies, the author demonstrates that the intention to purchase a DAS is not the best predictor for acquiring one; rather, the subjective gain in comfort and the perceived behavioral control (resources, barriers) play a crucial role in the purchasing decision. Therefore, in the development of these systems, comfort aspects should be considered alongside the safety effects of DAS. The book is aimed at educators.
