Exhibitions are meant to convey knowledge. But how exactly do they do that? The contributions in this volume explore how specific evidences are generated in museums and exhibitions through expositional constellations. They illuminate, from various perspectives, the processes of recognition and understanding in the interplay of artworks, spaces, displays, as well as between curators and audiences. In addition to current approaches from curatorial studies, art science, philosophy, theater, and dance studies that examine exhibitions as complex configurations of aesthetic meaning production, case studies on exhibition practices since the 1960s are also included and analyzed.
