Biblical healing stories speak of the world-changing power of God. However, the associated images of hope for a healed future often prove to be exclusive in light of an inclusive claim. Ideas of perfection inadvertently contribute to the exclusion of people with disabilities. Markus Schiefer Ferrari demonstrates through selected examples how biblical healing stories can be read inclusively. Taking human fragility seriously as a hermeneutical challenge and consistently exposing implicit exclusionary and normative concepts affects both scientific exegesis and educational and church practices.
