The subject of the Yearbook Enlightenment is the exploration of the 18th century and its historical impact. The idea of the knowledge-promoting power of open, impartial discussion was one of the most important beliefs of the century. It is this fundamental attitude of the Enlightenment that also shapes the structure of the Yearbook.

The pursuit of interdisciplinarity was a dominant trend and expression of the integrative power of the era. The upheaval of cultural and civilizational self-understanding, as well as the development of civil society, was influenced by it. The Enlightenment also seeks to correspond to this idea.

Designed to be interdisciplinary, the Enlightenment will thematically flexibly bring together results and perspectives from various research disciplines regarding their respective substantive focuses, complemented by short biographies, discussions, and research and literature reports.
