Oil pastels offer wonderful possibilities for applying very vibrant, intense, yet also delicate pastel tones. The high luminosity of these pastels is excellent for both encaustic techniques and various pastel and scraping techniques. All pastels can be easily blended with the finger depending on the desired artistic effect, but they can also be painted with a brush and turpentine (or turpentine substitute).
