The Beekeeper - Guide to Beekeeping; a crowned prize essay by the chairman of the Beekeeping Association in the Kingdom of Saxony, Pastor Sauppe. The beekeeper places his bee colonies in artificial nesting cavities, known as hives. This protects them and their brood nest from weather influences and the interference of other animals. In modern beekeeping, modular hives are used. This allows for the quick migration of colonies to lucrative foraging areas. The so-called mobile comb construction enables the beekeeper to make numerous interventions in the natural processes of a bee colony. By adding a honey super during the main foraging season, honey can be harvested without issues. The mobile comb frames also allow for the artificial reproduction of bee colonies and the adjustment of stronger and weaker colonies for optimal harvest.
