The author Bruno Dürigen (1853-1930) was a German zoologist and poultry expert. He was the first scientist in Germany to teach poultry breeding. Dürigen was regarded as a recognized specialist in the field of domestic poultry breeds and published extensively. Additionally, he worked on herpetological and terraristic topics and published the work "Germany's Amphibians and Reptiles" from 1891 to 1897, which became a standard reference on the amphibian and reptile world of Germany. For his work, Dürigen studied the herpetofauna of Germany, initially focusing on Saxony, but later expanded his research to Brandenburg and other parts of Germany. Dürigen was actively engaged in nature conservation. From 1876 to 1885, he served as editor-in-chief and co-editor of the journal "Isis," and from 1889 to 1895, he was the first editor-in-chief of "Blätter für Aquarien.".
