Product details
The author of the present volume "The Woman in Caricature," Eduard Fuchs (1870-1940), was a cultural scientist, historian, writer, and art collector. In 1933, after the rise of the National Socialists, Fuchs fled to France. His art collection, which included many Impressionist works (Max Liebermann, Max Slevogt) as well as paintings, drawings, and nearly all lithographs by Honoré Daumier, along with his villa and unique graphic collection, were confiscated by the Nazis and auctioned off in three sales. The work is illustrated with 446 black-and-white images in the text and 60 black-and-white plates. It is a reprint of the original edition from 1906.
