The History of the Lust Plague in Antiquity, along with detailed investigations into the cults of Venus and the Phallus, brothels, pederasty, and other sexual excesses of the ancients as contributions to the correct interpretation of their writings. The author Georg August Wilhelm Julius Rosenbaum (1807-1874) was a German physician. In 1847, Rosenbaum received the Prussian Medal of Merit for Art and Science in recognition of his work. Gradually, the medical societies of the cities of Brussels, Dresden, Hamburg, St. Petersburg, Breslau, Bruges, and Zurich also appointed Rosenbaum as a member. This is a reprint of the original edition from 1904.
