Product details
Nautical - a brief description of the daily practices of navigation used on ships. The author and director of the navigation school in Lübeck, Franz Schulze, describes in this volume from 1898 the nautical instruments and other aids, terrestrial navigation, as well as nautical astronomy and more. Illustrated with 56 black and white images. The determination of location, course traveled, and speed can be achieved through astronomical or terrestrial navigation, or by dead reckoning. Dead reckoning was, in earlier times when there was no land sight, the method used during ongoing ship operations to determine the distance traveled and thus the speed and course. Reprint of the original edition from 1898.
