The author of this volume, Theodor Koch-Grünberg (1872 -1924), was a German anthropologist and explorer who made significant contributions to the study of South American Indians, particularly the Pemón in Venezuela and Amazonian tribes. From 1903 to 1905, he explored the Yapura and the Rio Negro at the border with Venezuela in the northwestern Amazon region. His expedition report, which included his study of the Baniwa, was published in two volumes in 1910-1911 under the title "Two Years Among the Indians - Travels in Northwest Brazil, 1903-1905." This book is a revised edition published in 1921, condensed into a single volume. It is illustrated with numerous black-and-white images and plates. This is a reprint of the original edition from 1921.
