This book serves as an introductory textbook and overview work on conversation therapy, which is known as person-centered therapy in Austria and Switzerland. Leading representatives of this approach present the central theoretical and practical aspects clearly and in relation to each other: It begins with theoretical core concepts such as the person and the tendency for self-actualization, the theory of disturbances and development, as well as the specific understanding of the therapeutic relationship. Important current lines of development (Focusing/Experiencing, emotion-focused, clarification, and process-oriented therapy) are also addressed, along with the diagnostic and research approaches that arise from it. Finally, disorder-specific aspects of conversation therapeutic practice are discussed in relation to anxiety, depression, psychoses, and psychosocial problems.
