Berlin in the year 1917. There are mass strikes against the war and hunger, stalls are being looted in the markets, and black market dealers are charging exorbitant prices. To avoid being sent to the front, the young barber Louis Maleike deserts, disguises himself as a woman, and lives as Louise Schulz in a men’s hair salon that has been closed due to the war. When a murder occurs, Louise, a.k.a. Louis, comes under suspicion and must go into hiding. Commissioner Fokko v. Falkenrhede is hot on his trail.
