Family relationships are double-edged: they are relationships of love and power, relationships without calculation yet still involve accounting, personal relationships that are subject to strong moralization. How does the stubbornness of the familial manifest when generational relationships come under pressure during a crisis: when adult sons and daughters (re)move back in with their parents and need their support because they are unemployed and unable to stand on their own feet? Or when parents become dependent on care and the children, who have their own lives, are faced with the task of taking care of them? How do the affected parents and children experience the situation, how do they cope with it, and what problems and conflicts arise from it? These questions are at the center of the book, which also serves as a contribution to the exploration of familial relationships.
